Equal Pay Day is the symbolic day when women’s earnings “catch up” to men’s earnings from the previous year. Despite the Equal Pay Act, the gender pay gap persists; women are typically paid just 80 cents for every dollar paid to men — and that number has barely budged in a decade. Think 80 cents is bad? The pay gap is even worse for women of color.
There’s a lot to be said about hustle. To me, hustle has always been the ability to keep going despite your circumstances. I grew up in poverty, raised by single mother who worked night and day waiting tables – just to put food on the table and clothes on our backs - but somehow managed to show up to every school play, fundraiser and parent-teacher night. I’m a first-generation college student.
In any environment where you’re meeting people, make sure your right hand is free —you don’t want to have to fumble at the last moment. Avoid holding a drink in your right hand, especially if it’s cold, as the condensation can make your hand feel clammy.
